Well, almost everything. I’m ill – got a viral infection and laryngitis, which means I feel pretty crap and can’t speak. But other than that, things are looking way up!

We’ve moved house, and finally got everything just as I want it. (I’m sure there’ll be more tweaking, but basically we’re happy with the new place).

I’ve sorted the problems that have plagued our ‘net connection since moving in: a process involving changing MAC addresses, wireless channels, router location and – eventually – router. Word of advice: stay away from Belkin. They suck. I’ve never had a Belkin modem/router/WAP that’s worked properly. You’d think I’d have learned after the second shitty piece of equipment I bought, but no. It went up to 5 before I kicked the habit. My new Netgear router works like a dream though. So yay!

I got a job. Well, two jobs, actually! One temporary one at Codemasters, and a more permanent one at Ninja Theory. I’ll skip talking about the Codemasters one, as although it’s a perfectly good job, it’s the same thing I’ve been doing for the last three years: lowest-rung-of-the-ladder QA technician. The Ninja Theory one, though, is for senior QA, but as NT are doing things a bit differently (they don’t have a QA Manager, they’ve got a QA Lead doing the manager job, so the jobs are a ‘level’ higher than the title suggests), I’ll be doing what I’ve seen QA Leads doing at my other jobs. Leading a team, building a department, liaising much more with external/publisher QA. And it’s loads of money, and a much longer contract. I honestly can’t tell you how excited I am about it, and how eager to start I am.

And now, the best thing to happen recently:

We’re having a baby girl! Our detailed scan (22 weeks) was last Friday, and after the terrifying few minutes while the sonographer checked to see if our baby was healthy (she is!), we found out that baby (codename: Bog-myrtle) is a girl! I’m so happy you wouldn’t believe it.
